Our mission is to foster exceptional photojournalism through education, financial support and civic participation to provide a visual reflection of our times for our communities.
Our Vision for the future starts with the Curious Wire, reseeding the news desert one image at a time.
There is growing energy in supporting local journalism to heal the political divide and save democracy. Unfortunately, it is being built without one key ingredient, photos.
The Curious Wire is building a network of trusted and vetted civic photojournalists drawn from the high schools, senior centers and displaced professionals from across the nation to fill this void.
Education:
The next generation of photojournalists will come from our high schools and community colleges. The Curious Wire is working to support teachers and students with educational tools and lesson plans, the goal is to achieve the highest levels of visual literacy and ethical standards. The additional support of top working professionals, paid internships and career development creates a road to career sustainability outside of the traditional pathways littered with debt and job insecurity.
